Pumpkin Stew
1 1/2 lb. stew meat
1/2 pound carrots, cut into small pieces
several potatoes, cut into small pieces
1 large onion, chopped
1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
1 stalk celery, sliced
2 cans golden mushroom soup

I make a pumpkin stew every Halloween and my kids love it.
I start out by cleaning a nice size pumpkin. I save the
seeds and bake them later. Then I put the following
ingredients in the pumpkin and bake.

I mix this together in a bowl then pour in pumpkin shell
and bake in a slow oven 300 degrees for 3.5 hours or until
meat is tender. I also add some of the cut pumpkin and
        sometimes sweet potatoes cut up.
When finished, I carefully carry the pumpkin (which is on a
cookie sheet) to the table and serve right from the
pumpkin! It puts everyone in a Halloween mood. I usually
serve this with some crispy French bread and some kind of a
        green salad.)

1. Cut top off pumpkin, (like you were making a jack-o-lantern)
2. Clean out seeds
3. Place on heavy cookie sheet or in large cooking dish
4. Place meat and vegetable in pumpkin
5. Pour soup directly from can over contents
6. Place lid back on pumpkin
7. Bake at 300o F for about 3 1/2 hours until meat is tender
8. Serve
