Wormy Apples

6 large delicious apples with stems
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup  brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 teaspoon  cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon  nutmeg
6 gummy worms
 

1. Core apples, reserve top of core with stem
2. Mix nuts and raisins and place in apples, replace tops with stems
3. Place apples in large oven proof pan
4. Place sugar, water, butter, and spices in sauce pan
5. Cook over high heat until boiling (stir constantly)
6. Pour mixture over apples
7. Bake at 350o F for about 30 minutes (until skin starts to crack)
8. Allow to cool to room temperature.
9. Just before serving place worms in core, dangling over side of apple
