know about search engines there are also directories, jump sites, and several
other type of site that will list sites.

Below you will find URLs to the different types of sites that either list or submit sites.
Search Engines & Directories - Most people use at least one of the major search engines like Hotbot, or Excite. Some prefer the directories like Yahoo. However besides these, there are many you may not be aware of. Some list any subject, while other specialize.
Major Jump Sites (link sites) - This section lists sites, that are many times called "jump sites", "link sites", or "directories". A webmaster that runs a "jump site" has their work cut out for them! Keeping up with new sites, deleting dead links can be a full time job. However is is done often as a labor of love, to help you find what you are looking for. Unlike search engines where you have to guess what key words to use.
Sites that announce or submit - While some sites charge for this service, I haven't found one yet that was worth what they charged. However have found some free ones that that are very handy. If you decide to use a "for pay" take the time to ask questions and check references.
Free For All - These are normally located on personal sites, or smaller business. As a rule are ran with little or no human supervision. Some will give you results some won't. How ever it never hurts to list your site with them. Remember your listing will only be temporary, depending on the popularity and the owners time, how often you will have to re-submit.
Award Sites - Many people don't think of searching award sites. However many of them list high quality sites. While not all Award Site are equal, if you find one that matches your interest it can be a gold mind. Also being awarded can bring traffic to your site.
Other- Any time you try to sort something, there will be a few odd items, that just don't fit into any group. Here you will fine webrings, search engines that search other search engines, and who knows what else. But if it will help you promote your site and doesn't fit above it will be here. Have fun.
